We look forward to seeing what happens next year…The Lake: Etang de Vaumigny is an 80 year old gravel pit of around 37 acres. The venue consists of 3 lakes: a nursery lake, a cat fishing lake and a carp fishing lake. The property has a secure perimeter and is surrounded by woods and fields.The depths of the carp fishing lake vary from 1,50 to 3 meters. There’s plenty of natural food like crayfish, mussels, worms and larva. The lake features overhanging trees. The hard gravel bottom has hardly any obstacles. You might find some trees and stumps near swim 10 and the peninsula. When you arrive, ask the owner, he’ll tell you exactly where the obstacles are. Frank visits all the clients to see if everything is alright and if you wish he gives you some interesting tips… There’s no weed in the lake. The grass carp eat a lot of weed and every spring the lake is treated to prevent the weed from growing.Boats are allowed, but they have to have a hard bottom and the use of life vests is compulsory. You can rent boats on the site for 70 Euros per weekThe Swims: The Lake has 18 swims around its perimeter. Only 16 swims can be used at the same time, which gives you the possibility to move around a little during your stay. Swims 1 to 9, 15 and 16 are doubles, the others are single swims.Vehicle access is good around most of the lake; swims 8 to 14 however are only accessible by foot. There are trolleys to carry your tackle to these swims.At Vaumigny it isn´t possible to pre-book a swim, when you arrive you can choose your swim with Frank. There are enough swims for everybody, so the last one that arrives, still has enough swims to choose from. The fish are all over the lake, so all swims are quality swims.Fish Stocks: In 1997, when the actual owner took over the property, the fish stocking was very poor and the original fish were very difficult to catch. To improve the fish stock, since 1997, every year new carp has been introduced to the lake. It doesn’t surprise us that, due to this fantastic management, half of the carp weigh over 15kg. We know from local anglers that at least 5 original carp were over 20kg before Frank arrived. Frank is convinced that now there are at least 36 carp over 20kg in Vaumigny.Besides carp, you’ll also catch grassies, sturgeon and cat fish. There is a track around the whole lake so your gear can be dropped off behind your swims and then returned to the car park so no struggling around the lake with your mountain of gear. The lake bed is mainly sand, clay & fine silt and the water is heavily coloured due to the large head of carp continually rooting up the bottom looking for food. There are 7 single swims and 3 double swims all designed for anglers with plenty of room in each. All swims have their own uninterrupted areas of lake with visible features, margins and areas of shallow and deep water, we only allow a maximum of 6 anglers at any one time so there is always plenty of room for a move if you wish to try another area or fancy stalking one of the bays.There are a number of small grassy islands dotted around the lake which provide nice features to fish to and the marginal slopes and drop-offs are always worth a try. A couple of swims have purpose built wooden platforms where a rod pod is necessary. The fish patrol up and down the lake on the hunt for food all the time and can be seen rolling and jumping all over the lake on a regular basis and they get caught from all swims so expect plenty of action whatever swim you choose.The lake is extremely quiet and peaceful especially at night so all you will expect to hear are the owls hooting, the catfish slapping and your clutches screaming!

The carp fishing holidays are run on a drive and survive basis and the lake caters for groups of up to 6 angler’s maximum weekly so each angler will have 2.5 acres or more to themselves. The English owner Ian is at hand for advice and tips and there is a large mobile home with two bedrooms, sofas, showers, toilets, fridge, freezer & cooking facilities. Description: Carp Heaven is a beautiful and very tranquil tree lined lake of almost 15 acres (6 hectares) located in the Burgundy region of France. It is surrounded by woods and pastures grazed by the local white charolais cows.The depth varies from just under 3ft at the shallow end and it gets deeper towards the dam wall where it has depths of up to 8ft with the average of about 5ft.The shallows covers an area of about 4 acres and is an area that the fish love to sunbathe and feed and has 8 islands and 3 swims. The main area of the lake has 11 swims, many of which are doubles.The bottom is a sandy/clay which is quite common with many French lakes and there is very little weed.The lake was emptied in November 2006 when virtually 100% of the snags were removed.The longest cast required is only about 90 - 100 yd's so rods of 2.75lb test with fully loaded bait runners and 2.5oz leads should get you anywhere on this lake and bait boats are permitted.At more than 1/4 mile long, new clients pull into the car park and are delighted to see the lake stretching out before them. Description: La Chaussee is a quiet little hamlet of around 6 houses and the lake runs the length of it. About 10/15 minutes away is the town of Pre en Pail where there are numerous shops/bars and garages including a 'Super U' supermarket where you can get all the things you’ll need.

Lake: The lake is 12 acres and an average depth of 2 metres. We have 5 double swims but only ever a maximum of 6 anglers at any one time so there’s always another swim available should you wish for a change of luck not that we think you’d need it.

Stock: 2 ton of Carp went into the lake in February 08. There are commons and mirrors with 7 koi’s and one grass carp as a bonus. They range from 13 lbs upto 35 lbs and a good head of 20lb+ . This was in addition to existing stock so a mystery catch could be on the cards! The lake has never been seriously fished and is over two hundred years old (pre Napoleonic).

Description: Look no further, at Les Rivets you will discover an extra special fishery and experience some outstanding fishing. Our 9 acre lake is near to the town of St Fargeau in the Yonne district and has a large stock of Carp.  Looking to take the family on holiday and do some Carp fishing? Well, this is the place for you. We have a 4 bedroom house overlooking the lake with heated swimming pool. All the bedrooms have double beds and there a large patio area where to sit and relax.  We are located to a National Park where the family can go for long walks. Five minutes from the reservoir you can find beaches for family picnics or just sit around our heated pool. Four minutes away there is an Animal Park and an Adventure Park for the kids. For the ladies who love a day out shopping just take a 40 minute car trip into the main town of Auxerre.

Lake: the lake has 10 man made swims, 8 of these are double swims which gives comfort for 8 angler, and can take up to 10 anglers without a problem. It is spring and river fed and is closed water with night fishing allowed. There is plenty of tree cover and the bottom of the lake is clay and has some gravel areas. The depth of this lake is from 4 feet at the shallow end to 14 feet deep at the dam end and the average depth is over 7 ft deep.

Stock: There are now about 260 Carp with 40% of the stock being common's and the biggest are the moment is 60.1lb common, largest Mirror caught 53lbs.

Facilities: For the Drive and Survive there are two shower and kitchen area, with Freezer, fridge, cooker, and microwave. There are four bedrooms two on the ground floor and two bedrooms are on the top floor, both top floor bedrooms are double sized rooms. On request we can add more beds in these bedrooms. In the TV room at the top of the stairs there is a put me up bed. All bedrooms have double beds.

Description: Etang du roivre is a fifteen acre lake set in our own 33 acre estate which in turn is situated in the middle of the renowned, beautiful Burgundy region of France. The lake is over three hundred years old and has only been fished since we bought it in early 2002 before which it had been kept as a nature reserve. It is now a French carp fishing holiday venue with a superb stock of very big fish

Lake:  We have cut 20 level swims around the lake but limit the numbers of anglers to a maximum of 12 per week. This ensures that there are always empty swims to move to if you need to or for stalking during the day. The bed of the lake is composed of clay and clean, non-smelling silt. The hard sandy clay shoulders stretch out for twenty to thirty yards and the water depth ranges from three feet immediately in front of each swim to six or seven feet in the middle The reason that the silt is not the normal black, smelly kind is that the lake is teeming with blood worms, cadis fly larvae and literally thousands of swan mussels which are filter feeders and the reason for “clean Silt”.

Stock: We can accurately forecast the likely spring results for 2010 as we are carrying out a drain down for the autumn of 2009. We are confident that these will show at least 130 different thirties plus a further 40 of over 40 lb with a current lake record of 56.07 lb. On top of these we have exactly 49 catfish to well over 100 lb. During 2009 we have so far seen 125 forty pound plus carp landed as well as 591 thirties. The total captures this year have recorded over 52% as being over 30.00 lb and we are expecting these figures to easily be eclipsed during 2010.Facilities: On one corner of the lake we have constructed a dining lodge which is based on a small “English country pub.” It has a log fire for the colder months and it is where English breakfasts and evening meals (included within the price) are served and where beers and wines are available. There are three lakes on the park and all three are well stocked with fish. The main lake is approx three acres in size although a little harder to fish than the other two if you set your stall up right be it for the big one or bag up a good days fishing is there to be enjoyed. A 10 acre lake set in 17 acres of land. Bordered by a wood on one side the lake varies in depth from 3 ft - 10ft at the dam end. Description:

A round 4 acres in size it has two islands in the centre and a couple of banks of lilies. There is a fair amount of weed, especially in the shallower water.

Over all depth is relatively shallow with 2 feet to the left hand bank and 4 feet by the larger island, and in the centre before the lilies. It has about half an acre that is no more than 18 inches deep - the large carp can be seen on a sunny day patrolling the margins and lily pads, a stalkers paradise. It really is an exciting lake to fish, with the water being quite shallow when you hook a fish the surface erupts as the carp attempts to make its escape... heart stopping stuff !!

Currently the lake is very natural with grassy banks and plenty of cover. It is an easy venue in terms of the furthest you will have to cast is about 40yards. The islands can be reached with a 20-25 yard cast. There is a small amount of weed growth in the lake but we had no problems finding clear spots.

Stock:The lake is a fairly old, dating back some fifty years. The carp were stocked over 10 years ago and have thrived in the rich water that had never been fished until 2002. All the fish we caught therefore were absolutely mint and in perfect health. As far as we can ascertain only mirror carp are present with no commons or grassies. Other species present include pike, perch and roach. The average size, with no recent restocking having been undertaken seems to be between 25-40lbs. These stocks will be supplemented with additional carp later in 2002. At present w e estimate the stock levels to be around 40-50 fish with the majority of these being low 30's. In our first field testing session at the beginning of May, 3 anglers, fishing 4 rods each had 23 fish, 15 of these being over 30 pounds.

Facilities:The pool has clean but basic facilities with small wooden chalet which contains an English toilet and hot shower. There is a sink unit in the Kitchen area with hot water for washing up. There is also a fridge. A single hotplate is available but beware, use of too much electricity at one time may trip the power!
