Location: 10 minutes drive form the town of Saint Aulaye
Description: is a three and a half acre lake set within an approx 40 acre mixed forest predominately maritime pine that forms part of the ancient forest of Double. Here you feel as though you have stepped back in time. You will certainly hear, and if lucky, see the varied wildlife of France at its most natural - deer and wild boar are often heard and occasionally seen, eagles buzzards and kingfishers circle the lake. Although the location of the venue is very rural; it is only 3 minutes drive to the nearest village of Saint Vincent Jalmoutier with a combined bar, restaurant and a shop open six days a week. A 10 minute drive will bring you to the larger town of St. Aulaye with supermarkets, bars, restaurants, bank, pharmacy & riverside pleasure beach. The site is extremely tranquil, with no light pollution, noise or public rights of way across the site. All bookings offer exclusive use of the lake and private woodland.
facilities: On this venue are basic, but comfortable, and include a self contained lakeside cabin, and space to pitch tents or bivvys. We only ever let to one group at a time so guests have plenty of space to spread out.
This is a 'drive and survive' style destination.
The facilities in the cabin are as follows:
- bedroom with double bed
- Dining / sitting room with banquette seating and woodburner
- Galley kitchen with gas hob and fridge
- Shower room with gas heated shower and sink
- Solar panel for strip lighting throughout
- Rain water harvester for shower, washing and cooking
- There is no mains electricity or services on site
- Covered dining pation with BBQ
- External composting toilet shed with solar lighting. Latest ' Natures Head ' self contained composting toilet.
Lake & Stock: Since it has only in 2015. Maximum weighs are unknown, although numbers of fish caught are quite high. Most carp seem to be in the high teens or early twenties. The lake has only been fished for seven days since we acquired it in late 2014. We really don't know what is in there !
