The majority of the carp are mirrors but there are a number of big commons to over 45lb. The waters contain a head of large grass carp too that occasionally grace the unhooking mats and are an unusual addition to your catches. The lakes have been stocked on a regular basis since I acquired them. Carp aren't the only big fish in the venue, we also have some very large catfish. These superb fighting machines run to over 100lb..... the largest in 2009 topped the 107lb mark.. Onsite facilities include hot showers and English style toilets. There is also a mobile home that is available for optional rental and is perfect for wives, girl friends or family holidays. The whole property is fenced in and secure. Both have grassy banks which are ideal for setting up bivvies but the land surrounding Roseau is reclaimed marsh land and this means that during periods of heavy rain, particularly early season, it can get very muddy. Please go prepared. The swims are not accessible by car. Large lake: This 12 acre lake is a great choice for the angler looking for non-stop action. It has an awesome number of fish with 20 runs a days more than possible. Average size is around mid 20’s - and there are lots & lots of 30lb+ fish. The record from the Large Lake stands at 50.06. There are 11 swims for a maximum of 10 anglers. Baitboats are allowed & these can be rented on-site. Small lake: This smaller 2 acre water holds a better stamp of fish in smaller numbers - best up to 51.08. The current stock for this small water is around 100 carp, including many 20lb plus fish. Description: They have two privately owned lakes in the champagne region of France, Etang La Saussaie a 10.5 acre lake set in 15 acres of land being predominately a specimen carp water containing mainly carp over 30lbs and Lac Baleine a 28 acre water in 40acres of land, basically an out and out runs water where big catches of carp can be expected. Lake: The lake which was excavated over 30 years ago, covers 10.5 acres and is set in 15.5 acres of mature tree-lined land. It is fully fenced and has a gated entrance. So, that is what we set out to do, and have now achieved our goal after a lot of hard graft, travelling, and also parting with a lot of hard earned money. The lake was named Lac Du Charlou after our two daughters, Charlotte and Louise, lucky beggars! Having been carp fishing to France enough times to know what, for me, makes a great week for a carper I wanted to put it in to practice by supplying this at a sensible cost, and enjoying it along the way by making it a week to remember for every visitor. Lake: This stunning sixteen acre gravel pit has clear blue water, excellent for your photos, and is tree lined around the entire lake set within 24 acres of beautiful French woodland and countryside. Most anglers who have fished here also take home some lovely shots of the lake and its borders to remind themselves and show others just how nice it really is. The venue is nestled amongst some of the world’s most famous big carp waters on the border of the Orient Forest, home to Lac Orient and Lac Ammance, and I can guarantee you will be well impressed with the tranquillity of this one. The pegs, both double and single, are well spaced out for a maximum of ten anglers who will have ample room to fish with three or even four rods in certain pegs. There is plenty of space to bivvy up, with every peg being level and gravelled for drainage and comfort. Unhooking mats are supplied in each peg to lighten your load and care for our fish which are all in tip top condition. Stock: The depths of the lake vary from 2 feet to 26 feet and the lake bed in mainly hard gravel with features to find and fish to. The caravan site has two fishing lakes. The top lake, which is set in, the wooded area is mainly for experienced fishermen, with Carp at 20lb plus. A small daily fee is charged for this and all catches must be released. In May 2005 within 3 hours one of our guests bagged a total catch of 140lb. He was so pleased with the fishing on site he booked again for later in the year bringing the whole family for a holiday in France. If you wish to go fishing in France, you are required to obtain a fishing permit from the local fishing tackle shop a short drive away in Montendre. There are lots of ideal locations for day fishing in Charente Maritime, which we are more than happy to help with. The bottom lake is of mixed fish and is free of charge to all guests in our mobile homes. Again our policy is catch and release. The lake is an ideal spot for eating out at night on the island where picnic benches are set aside for such activities (how romantic).
