La Grand Vallee
Location: Brittany, Ill et Vilaine It's not a difficult place to fish. Even occasional carpers can be successful without having to fish full-time or nights. Two adjacent lakes of 4 and a bit acres and 1-acre; set in countless hectares of private woodland in a totally secluded and tranquil valley. There are loads of carp to low 40's. Mirrors, commons and a few grassies. The majority are 20's and doubles. They're long and lean and fight like river fish. Lake: The Main Lake is 4 or 5 acres. Long and narrow, it's a margin water with no long chucks needed. There are loads and loads of carp to low 40's. Mostly 20's and doubles. The fishing's prolific so its not compulsory to fish nights. There are plenty of other species to entertain pleasure anglers. The 1-acre Small lake provides even faster action. Mostly doubles, but with the chance of a biggie.
Le Monument
Location: Brittany, Ill et Vilaine
Description: Big carp fishing in peace and seclusion. It's hardly been fished. Lake: The island can be fished from all swims. But, with variations in depth to 12 feet and some fishy near margins, it takes a bit more thought than chucking 3 rods at the island. It's a largely gravel bottom, with little in the way of snags or weed (other than in Chris Yates corner). There are some great stalking spots in the shallows and the island channels. The fish haven't been pressured so aren't cute or riggy. With around 200 carp in 5 acres the fishing isn't hard. But, with a good average stamp (loads of 30's and a few 40's), and plenty of natural food - they're not mugs

Lake: E'tang De Campus is 4 acres in size and set in 10 acres of lush French countryside. The carp fishing lake borders the Alpes Mancelle, a protective area of acres and acres of forests. E'tang De Campus is a beautiful relaxing place to be let alone fish. The lake is spring fed via 2 natural springs with water levels and quality good throughout the year. The fishing lake is lined with several large willow trees along the northern side with silver birch and the odd oak tree between. The southern side is lush green grass. We have 6 purpose made pegs to fish from, these have been dug down close to the water line to allow safe landing and returning of carp, the pegs are gravelled for your comfort. The lake bed is mostly clay with a small amount of silt over the top. This beautiful and tranquil fishing lake is 90% snag free, however we recommend a minimum 12lb breaking strain line. Abbey Lakes
Vaux
Description: "Les Vaux" or the Etang du Moulin des Vaux, to give it it's full French name, is a superb stone built mill house that dates back to the 16th Century and is set in the lush green countryside on the borders between Brittany, Normandy and the Pays de la Loire. It is approximately 2 hours from the ferry port of Caen and 1½ hours from St. Malo. The very pretty private lake that lies next to the house dates back over 300 years and had never previously been used as a commercial fishery until it was purchased in 2002 by its English owners, Chas and Josie Cook, who have restored the lakeside house to a very high standard and stocked the lake with fish. The accommodation and venue has been specifically designed with the family in mind. Lake: The Lake is of approximately 3½ - 4 acres of open water with just over ¾ acre of marsh land at the top, where the Category 1 trout stream enters the venue. It varies in depth from 4.5 metres at the dam wall to 50 cms at the shallow top end. The average depth in the centre along the original river bed is around 2.7 to 3m, with margins averaging 1.4m to 1.7m. Stock: The lake was stocked in 2003 with around 280 carp... mirrors, commons and koi. The majority of carp now range from 20 to high 30’s, with the lake record currently standing at 47lb 10oz. Any small carp that may be caught will be from the original stock, or will have bred since the owners acquired the venue and will be removed to the stock lakes to grow The lake was stocked in 2003 with around 280 carp... mirrors, commons and koi. The majority of carp now range from 20 to high 30s and low 40s, with the lake record currently standing at 47lb 10oz. Any small carp that may be caught will be from the original stock, or will have bred since the owners acquired the venue and will be removed to the stock lakes to grow on. Efforts were made to stock good quality fish, heavily scaled mirrors and linears, plus commons. All stock is of the fast growing Czech Royale strains.
Etang De La Boissonie
Location: Limoges With it’s mainly gravel bottom and two natural water supplies feeding the lake, it makes the perfect habitat for big Carp and Cats. In my 25 years of Carp fishing, I have seen too many lakes overcrowded, making fishing very difficult, so we have limited the maximum number of anglers to six. The lake opened in April 2004 and has seen a successful season To compliment its original stock of between Two hundred and Two hundred and fifty Carp, we have added another ninety Carp with weights up to 30lbs. Fourteen catfish were also added up to 30 lbs Clear Water Lakes Mill Lake (3 acres) holds a stock of 250 carp, ranging from low doubles to mid 20's with pike, perch, tench and rudd also in the lake. Fishing is exclusive to a maximum of 2 anglers (ideal for beginners) allowing each angler 2 rods with fishing permitted from dawn to dusk, making it an ideal 'runs' water. The Mill Lakes season runs from March to September.

Cedar Lake
Location: Haute Normandie, Eure
Lake: 4 acres in size and has 4 swims. Cedar is set in its own very private grounds, securely fenced in and separated from the road by the large Cedar trees from which it takes its name. The owners, Tommy and George Young, know what’s needed to produce a first class fishery, both in terms of carp stock and facilities, and they will spare no expense to do it... so you can be confident that Cedar is a top quality venue Facilities: They have installed two new wooden chalets on opposite banks of the lake, each having steps down to its own large, comfortable fishing platform. Each chalet has electricity, a fridge and cooking facilities and will comfortably sleep 2 people in 2 single beds (no bedding is supplied at all – please bring your own pillows, sleeping bags etc). At present there is no mains water available in the chalets but there is a refillable water tank to provide water for washing up etc. The newly built toilet and shower block does have mains water and drainage and is housed in a separate cabin on the third bank, a couple of minutes walk from either chalet. Access by car is possible to both chalets. Because of the steps down to the fishing platforms from the chalets it would be too dangerous to allow fishing from the chalet i.e. you must be down on the platform with your rods if they are fishing. There’s plenty of room to bivvy up on the platforms so night fishing is not a problem.

Since then fish have been added on a regular basis, with a batch of 22 fish added in January 2004 - all these fish were over twenty pounds. Forest Lake Carp Fishing
Location: Dordogne. We are located around 45 minutes by car from Bergerac airport. A map showing our exact location is available on our web site. Website: http://www.forestlakecarpfishing.com
Forest Lake Carp Fishing offers the ideal carp fishing holiday in France for those hoping to catch big carp. The carp lake is available for exclusive hire from April to October. The venue, which is British run, can accommodate up to five anglers per week, although 'fish stalkers' may prefer a smaller party if they wish to roam from peg to peg. Exclusive lake hire Because the water is around three acres in size we only rent the whole lake to one party at a time. This exclusive lake hire policy means that you and your party can indulge in a truly carefree carp fishing holiday without worrying about which swim you'll get or what passing anglers might nick from your peg. Accommodation is at the bankside in bivvies, although a fisherman's cabin is also at your disposal to make your stay more comfortable. This includes a modern, english-style toilet and shower, plus a kitchen with fridge, freezer, cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle and the usual pots, pans and cutlery. Fishing in France with less driving and more fishing We are also able to provide bivvies and other pieces of bulky equipment if required, so you won't need to bring loads of baggage if you choose to 'Fly and Survive' by booking a cheap flight to Bergerac airport. Of course, flying from the UK means that you can spend more of your holiday time fishing instead of driving. We're less than an hour from Bergerac airport and can pick you up if you want, although car rental is also available if you wish to be a little more mobile. The nearest bar-restaurant is 1.5km distant and it takes 15 minutes to drive to the nearest supermarket. Naturally, we can pick up odd items for you during the week and we'll happily call in at the supermarket on the way back from the airport if you wish. Catch a 40lb+ carp on your carp fishing holiday The carp lake is a damned, clay-bottomed, rain-fed lake of around three acres in size. It's located in the midst of farmland at the heart of the Double Forest in the Dordogne region of South West France. This is a truly unspoilt area with abundant wildlife, including wild boar, deer and birds of prey. If you keep your eyes peeled, you may even spot the kingfishers that flash across the lake from time to time.
Stock: Fish stock: Much to our delight a number of true linear carp happened to come out when our fish were being netted at the fish farm, including one of 32lb. True linears with a complete set of scales on the lateral line are extremely rare and a linear above 30lb is rarer still and a real specimen worth hunting for. The new fish supplemented the existing stock of mixed coarse fish and black bass. The original stock also included a good head of wild carp. The local farmers wink and tell us that there were already monsters in our lake before the restocking in 2008, although the biggest wildie we've seen to date was around 15lb. Mind you, that's quite a size for a wild carp and definitely something worth getting your hooks into. Facilities: All carp fishing holidays at Forest Lake Carp Fishing France include exclusive lake hire for you and your party along with the use of our fisherman's cabin. This is a newly renovated building with modern kitchen, shower and toilet. The kitchen includes a large fridge and a separate large freezer, an electric cooker, microwave, kettle and toaster along with all the pots, pans and cutlery that you're likely to need while carp fishing in France. There are also electric power points and adaptors in the cabin so that you can charge mobile phones and other items during your carp fishing holiday. The cabin does not include sleeping facilities as anglers are expected to take their naps between catches while bivvied up on the bankside. All you need to bring are your reels, bite alarms, scales, end tackle and sleeping bag.

Stock:The lake is fed by 3 springs which ensures a constant level and excellent water quality all year round. The bottom is made up of sand and clay and has a layer of leaf mulch, grass carp ensure we have no weeds to cause snags. The average depth is 2m, though this shallows out to 1m around some of the margins providing a shelf where the carp like to cruise, and deepens to 3 1/2m in 2 large holes towards the centre. Several old oak trees on the banks provide cover without impeding the fishing while natural contours in the bank provide ideal features to fish to. This winter we are working on digging in a new swim at the top end of the lake which will open up a previously inaccessible area of the lake giving our anglers a greater choice. The lake is limited to 6 anglers with a choice of 8 swims 2 of which are doubles. The lake was stocked in 2006 with carp to 40lb, and from what we have seen of these over the last year they certainly seem to be piling on the pounds. We have a high percentage of mirrors and commons in the mid to high 20’s, with a good stock of 30lb +. All of our guests have commented on the colours and quality of the carp they have caught not to mention their good fighting ability! Levels are always maintained in the lake by the incoming streams and also by springs that can be seen bubbling from the lake bed. In the severe drought in France, in summer 2006, when many lakes actually dried up, sweet chestnut lake retained it’s full height The lake bed has a combination of hard areas and silt, and there is no significant weed or snags. Half of the lake has lovely flat grassed banks, level with the waters edge. The remaining half is left undisturbed as a wild life haven. The lake is surrounded by native woodland . The predominant tree species being Sweet Chestnut and Oak with Birch, Alder, Poplar and Willow also in abundance. Beneath the tree canopy is a profusion of other native vegetation, including Gorse and Broom. Orchids have been seen growing in the shade of the trees. Stock:In November 2006 and early January 2007 the lake was stocked with half a ton of 'Royale' strain Carp, from 20lbs to over 40lb's, supplied by premier french fish dealer Simon Horton. These immaculate fish have not seen a hook and have never been fished for, they are gorgeous specimens, mostly mirrors, and are just waiting to be caught. Sweet Chestnut Lake has not been emptied for over 20 years and currently supports a healthy range of fish species. These include original Carp, Tench, Pike, Zander, Chub, Perch, Roach, Pumpkinseed and wild Trout. The lake is free of Poisson Chat and problem Crayfish. We know from the previous owner that the lake contains 50 original carp and a further 50 have been introduced by him over the last 6 years. These are predominately commons and the original fish may be over 35 years old. The biggest carp recorded from the original stock is a 30lb 13 oz mirror. Forest Pool
Location: 80km east of Paris Website: http://www.anglinglines.com/docs/ourvenues/lakes/forestpool/index.html
A round 4 acres in size it has two islands in the centre and a couple of banks of lilies. There is a fair amount of weed, especially in the shallower water. Over all depth is relatively shallow with 2 feet to the left hand bank and 4 feet by the larger island, and in the centre before the lilies. It has about half an acre that is no more than 18 inches deep - the large carp can be seen on a sunny day patrolling the margins and lily pads, a stalkers paradise. It really is an exciting lake to fish, with the water being quite shallow when you hook a fish the surface erupts as the carp attempts to make its escape... heart stopping stuff !! Currently the lake is very natural with grassy banks and plenty of cover. It is an easy venue in terms of the furthest you will have to cast is about 40yards. The islands can be reached with a 20-25 yard cast. There is a small amount of weed growth in the lake but we had no problems finding clear spots. Stock:The lake is a fairly old, dating back some fifty years. The carp were stocked over 10 years ago and have thrived in the rich water that had never been fished until 2002. All the fish we caught therefore were absolutely mint and in perfect health. As far as we can ascertain only mirror carp are present with no commons or grassies. Other species present include pike, perch and roach. The average size, with no recent restocking having been undertaken seems to be between 25-40lbs. These stocks will be supplemented with additional carp later in 2002. At present w e estimate the stock levels to be around 40-50 fish with the majority of these being low 30's. In our first field testing session at the beginning of May, 3 anglers, fishing 4 rods each had 23 fish, 15 of these being over 30 pounds. Facilities:The pool has clean but basic facilities with small wooden chalet which contains an English toilet and hot shower. There is a sink unit in the Kitchen area with hot water for washing up. There is also a fridge. A single hotplate is available but beware, use of too much electricity at one time may trip the power!
