Welcome to Windmills

There are 2 four acre lakes at Windmill situated between the historical cities of Laval and Le Mans, just 2½ to 4½ hours from the ports of Caen and Calais.

The dedicated Carp Lake has Mirrors, Commons and Grass Carp to 45lb+ and the Catfish Lake combines “runs” water with the adventure of big Catfish to 75lb+ and counting.

We have an lakeside Alpine Chalet situated just 15 metres from the banks of the Carp Lake, so you can enjoy the beautiful views of the whole venue whilst enjoying a beer on the veranda.

  

 

The lakes were dug approximately 20 years ago and are surrounded by a plantation of poplar trees, completely secluded from outside distractions.  We have no roads, trains or industrial units anywhere near the lakes, so apart from the occasional tractor there is total peace and tranquillity.

The “Carp Lake” was stocked in January 2004 with Mirror, Common and Grass Carp to 40 lbs +.  This lake is now enjoying great success, the fish are established and growing fast with  a new Grass Carp record of 42lbs landed by Keith Ward in August 2008 and the Mirror Carp record standing at 45lbs caught by Phil Ince in September 2007.   2008 also saw a 3lb 8oz Crusian Carp landed so we are keeping our eye on that one.

We have now added 9 New Common Carp between 20 lbs and 29 lb  14 oz together with 2 Mirror Carp both weighing in at 25 lbs a piece to the “Catfish Lake”. This is in addition  to the original stocking of 200 smaller carp in 2003 and the larger carp to 30 lbs+ and 18 Catfish to 42 lbs stocked in January 2006.  All the fish have piled on the pounds with the record Catfish now being  63lb landed by Derek Harris in April 2009

ALPINE CHALET

We have an lakeside Alpine Chalet situated just 15 metres from the banks of the Carp Lake, so you can enjoy the beautiful views of the whole venue whilst enjoying a beer on the veranda.

 

Bathroom and Shower

There is an English style shower and toilet, with hot and cold running water, adjacent to the main house which is available 24/7, also a fridge and bait freezer are on site for your use.

There are 3 beds including a small double, a bunk bed and a single, all with bedding supplied, also a table & chairs, sink, gas hob and fridge, 12 volt electricity and pumped water. The veranda is the perfect place for the non-angler to relax with a cold drink and take in the peace and beauty of the surroundings.
